The Rising Industry

No other industry can make the plastics industry’s claims about its products: They’re versatile, lightweight, low cost, moldable, formable, strong, durable, corrosion- resistant, colorful, tactile, recyclable, and energy saving. The overwhelming advantages of plastics make them the first choice in a designer's arsenal and indispensable in almost all other market segments.

With annual shipments of $341 billion, the plastics industry is also one of the nation's largest. The tri-state area surrounding the Technology Center, comprised of Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio, accounts for 17.6 percent of the nation’s plastics shipments.

The TSU Technology Center is a leading area plastics industry education provider. Courses are offered to equip workers in a range of job responsibilities, from machine operator to mold or product design engineer. Plastics technicians with good skill sets are in demand across the Midwest.
